This fascinating tour combines mystical treasure caves with breathtaking coastal cliffs. We’ll first explore the intriguing Cuevas del Tesoro caves before walking along a scenic coastal trail that leads us through a former railway tunnel.
Our adventure begins in Fuengirola, where we travel by minibus for about 45 minutes to Cueva del Tesoro, or the “Treasure Cave.” According to legend, a hidden treasure was once concealed here, attracting treasure hunters for centuries—though its existence remains a mystery. Inside the caves, we’ll admire stunning rock formations, an underground lake, and naturally carved passageways. Our tour through these unique sea caves lasts about an hour. While the route includes stairs and dim lighting, it is otherwise fairly easy to walk through.
After our cave visit, we’ll take a short minibus ride to a dramatic coastal trail just a kilometer away. This scenic route runs along the very edge of the cliffs and leads us to a historic railway tunnel that has been transformed into a pedestrian walkway. The trail is just over a kilometer long and mostly easy to walk, though it does include some stairways.
